whistles at Potsdamer Platz - "El Silbo" impressed the Berliner!

Nothing is as clear as whistled language! This was acknowledged in the course of the three cultural evenings of the 8th came Canary culture days many curious Berlin, exile Canarios, Españoles from Peninsula, Latinoamericanos, and many German friends in the Canaries into the hospitable Ibero-American Institute, close to the Potsdamer Platz. There warmly received by the scientific director of the IAI, Dr. Birley and IAI-cultural manager Diana by the Romans. Julian Aguirre Munoz de Morales conveyed the greetings of the English Embassy in Berlin.

What you do not know everything in the world of languages that would be allegedly or actually learn to better understanding the sake yet. "El Silbo, which we now know it would really be worth it because it is his originality, because emotional and produce only by passion, people can not be beat. A impressive delegation of cultural ambassadors (see info below "Large Delegation of the cultural ambassador of the Canary Islands in Berlin") had made from the Canaries to Berlin on the way to convince and prove that "El Silbo Gomero" truly a masterpiece of cultural heritage of humanity and deserves to be included in future in the same UNESCO list. And that's all who spoke, sang, played music, and managed to kick off, one can really say to the three eventful days ...

The Canary nature and world culture heritage - promote, develop, retain

With a range of informative and lively presentations, a new Understanding of many previously unknown facts, cultural roots and the specific identity of the Canaries taught. The Canary Island World Heritage Site, as we already know, the National Park of Garajonay on La Gomera, Teide and the old town of La Laguna in Tenerife, is nearing its extension, if it succeeds, "El Silbo" soon on the list of UNESCO award set, namely, as one of the "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity".

multimedia show of the "Artenara"

The sensitive Timplisten and multimedia artist Enrique Mateu and unsurpassed Silbador of La Gomera, Isiodoro Ortiz was already on the first evening a highlight of the extraordinary combination of film sequences, rehearsed electronic music, Originaltimplespiel and whistling. Pictures of Lavazöpfen mingled with filmed Drago flowers, sea foam in the plaintive cry of the Silbadores, a bird hovering like the viewers of the laurel forests and was escorted to the chirping of Timples and the siren calls of Silbi fall into the green foliage and moss ... There were touching symbiosis of all sounds and images that feel the magical power and attraction of the melodious whistle along with the poetry of the texts so delegated, strongly reinforced.

El-Silbo-school lesson in Berlin

Eugenio Darias, the Silbolehrer, and Maria, Carlota and Ayoze, his students did, in what appealed to imitate: With 2 Volkalen and 4 consonants language "model", phonetically modeled and whistled. The vowel-rich as "buuuuueeeeenoooooos diiiiiiiaaaaas", are as tuneful whistle stretched understood because even those who do not speak English. The applause did not end ... From a room on the other end was whistled like mad. That the messages arrived in plain text, Eugenio proved immediately by turning the flip chart and whistled presented set black and white.

When the hearts fly to the musicians and sombreros to the fans ...

"Son Gomero" then decided on Friday evening last week, the Cultural Days. You could not ask anything better to the cold and rain-soaked week in Berlin real-Canary finally lead here in the long-awaited spring. Finally! Warmth, feeling, rhythm, joy and lots of "corazón" includes nearly four hundred guests at the Otto-Braun-Saal lifted, the most enthusiastic of you from the seats, all brought to the rhythmic applause, to swing, swings, and Jumping and dancing all over Canary. The band managed by Tomás Arteaga from La Gomera it with 9 full-blood musicians playing from the Canary Islands, Cuba, Venezuela and Germany to produce the famous musical vibrations under the skin. What
not only, as I said, the seats of the audience, but also the Panama hats from the heads of the musicians tore: sombreros from the audience caught, like bridal bouquets for weddings. If there is no better example for German-Canarian friends ...

We are already looking forward to the 9th Canarian Culture Days in Berlin in 2009.
